Hot Poker and Toasty Kebab: a three-bite food build

Turn a Hot Poker finisher into reusable food, then feed Scavenger Blade without confusing bites, hits and card uses.

Demo build 23718635

The short answer

A fatal Hot Poker creates Toasty Kebab. The Kebab has 3 Uses and Persistent, so its food can be played repeatedly while uses remain. Pair it with an eating payoff in hand, but first solve Hot Poker’s low base damage and 2-energy cost.

Two core cards and the food they create

Hot Poker

Core · create the Kebab

Hot Poker2 energy · Combat

  • Deal 1 damage × 3 hits
  • On a fatal hit: Create 1 Toasty Kebab

It costs 2 and deals 1 damage three times at base. Its fatal-hit trigger creates Toasty Kebab. Prepare a low-health target or improve its actual hit values.

Toasty Kebab

Generated · three uses

Toasty Kebab0 energy · Combat

  • Heal 5

Food · Uses 3 · Persistent

It costs 0 and heals 5 per play at base. Persistent keeps it after playing, while Uses limits the number of plays. The base card has 3 Uses; it is not endless food.

Scavenger Blade

Core · eating payoff

Scavenger Blade1 energy · Combat

  • Deal 5 damage
  • When you eat: Increase damage by 1

With its +1 damage eating trigger available for each bite, three bites can provide three separate growth events. Keep the blade in hand and check its value after eating.

From the first kill to the next attack

  1. Reserve 2 energy for Hot Poker. Check all three hits and any enemy damage modifiers.
  2. Use other damage only if you can still leave an enemy for the Poker to finish.
  3. Land the fatal hit and inspect the generated Kebab’s actual Uses.
  4. Keep the eating payoff available, then play the Kebab one bite at a time.
  5. After each bite, check your health, the payoff’s current value and remaining Uses.
  6. Use the grown attack only if there is energy left. Free food does not refund Hot Poker’s cost by itself.

What three bites do—and what they do not

A base Kebab can provide three 5-health heals across its three uses: up to 15 healing before the health cap or other effects. If a base Scavenger Blade receives all three +1 eating triggers, its damage changes from 5 to 8. These are separate benefits.

Persistent describes what happens when the card is played. It does not mean the card lasts forever, keeps all its uses, or stays in hand at the end of every turn. Read other properties on your actual copy before planning across turns.

Make the source work before adding more payoffs

Practice Dummy can help the Poker reach kills through suitable attack improvements when offered. Inspect its individual hits after a change. Kitchen can connect an eligible damage card to eating growth, but it is not required for Scavenger Blade’s printed eating trigger.

Until the Poker reaches useful kill thresholds, keep Roast as another food source. A cheap, working finisher is better than taking repeated damage while waiting for one perfect upgrade.

Missing piecePractical change
No Hot Poker yetUse the Roast food engine while looking for a different source.
Poker cannot finish a targetUse a setup hit or improve its damage; reserve the 2 energy.
No eating payoffUse the Kebab for healing now rather than hoarding unusable growth cards.
No room for a facilityKeep using the printed card effects and plan the next exploration room.

Show both the weapon and the eating sequence

Record the Poker’s final hit values or added effects in your notes, plus the number of Kebab uses you actually resolved. Enter the grown blade’s final damage separately.

The builder opens a core with Hot Poker, Scavenger Blade, a backup Roast and Rest. Toasty Kebab is a generated result, so add it to the description rather than claiming it was an opening reward.

Your cards can grow beyond their base values. Keep the current card values and ending together when you share the run.
